Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of a seamless data center migration with minimal downtime, using strategies like standby Data Guard and flashback flashback mode testing.
  • Implement and manage Data Guard configurations for high availability and disaster recovery, ensuring regular testing and failover readiness.
  • Design and execute comprehensive database optimization strategies, identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions to improve scalability and resource utilization.
  • Develop and enforce robust security policies and procedures, including CVV vulnerability mitigation strategies like password verification functions and latest patching to comply with RBI audit policies.
  • Mentor and coach junior DBAs, fostering their skill development and sharing your knowledge on advanced Oracle features like RAC, Exadata, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Manage database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime, utilizing restore points and rollback methodologies to ensure business continuity.
  • Establish and maintain database links with other database ecosystems like MSSQL, MySQL, and Sybase, ensuring proper driver configuration and secure connectivity.
  • Analyze complex database issues, including major storage problems, and initiate recovery procedures from the DR site, ensuring data consistency and minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including application developers, system administrators, and security specialists, to align database strategies with business objectives.

Skill & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment with demonstrably successful project implementations.
  • In-depth expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, Exadata, and cloud-based Oracle environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, with experience in writing optimized queries and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle high availability, disaster recovery, and migration best practices.
  • Excellent scripting skills in Shell, Python, or other scripting languages for automating tasks and managing complex solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex database performance issues and proactively identify potential problems.
  • Experience in monitoring and analyzing database metrics with tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager and other performance monitoring tools.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, able to guide and motivate junior DBAs, foster team collaboration, and drive knowledge sharing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills are crucial.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently is required.
